swedish practice johannes norlander arkitektur has designed 'villa alta', a single family home located
just outside of stockholm, sweden. informed by the topographical conditions of the site, the residence seeks
to compose a functional layout within the relatively small and restricted area.
approach
measuring 4.6 meters in width, the dwelling features an angled, wedge-shape plan that contributes to the
open interior environment. void of unnecessary internal walls, the design utilizes the hooked intersection of
wings as a room divider in itself allowing for continuous flow between spaces.
entrance
the upper floor consists of three bedrooms, a bathroom and a small library that is centrally located and open
to the ground floor. glossy white surfaces clad the walls, floor and ceiling, visually expanding the perception
of space. large windows flood the rooms with natural light and pepper each area with elements of the contrasting
lush green surroundings.
interior entrance
a combination of simple materials permeates the project, pure and consistent from inside to out. the stark spaces
are left minimal with each detail and component reduced to purpose its function.
